The fourth was fun, went to the National Cathedral, it reminded me of how unreligious I really am. We also drove around Georgetown so I can tell Aubrey that I've been to her school. The campus was kind of dreary looking, but it was pouring out so I supposed it could have added to the effect. It poured for most of the day on the fourth so, we stayed home that night and simply watched the fireworks on TV. The were gorgeous, but I don't think it would have been fun sitting on The Mall watching them, it was soaked. I've concluded though that it would be nice to see the fireworks from the river or from the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Those would be ideal places to see the fireworks. I made a Patriotic desert! It consisted of poundcake, strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream. It was quite good, if you ask me...as you should. I have a picture of it and of me holding it with a flag and a pin, I shall post it when I get home.
The fifth was holiday, my aunt and I went to the Museum of Natural History and the American History Museum. They were so fun! I enjoyed the Mammals exhibit and took a bunch of pictures. Also, I want the Hope Diamond...so if anyone wants to steal it for me, I wouldn't mind it at all. At the American History Museum I got to see Julia Childs Kitchen! That was SO exciting! Along with some of the first ladies dresses, a ninja turtle, white house china, and a bunch of other stuff, there was so much I can't even remember it all. I love museums. I forgot to talk about my visit of the National Gallery. That was awesome, we didn't get very much time there I think only three hours, but I swear you could get lost in there for the whole day and still have not seen everything there is to see. There was a Diego Rivera exhibit and that was very nice, I couldn't take pictures in that one.
After the National Gallery Aunt Mary Lou and I went to Jazz in the Gardens. I really wish that I lived somewhere that had stuff like that. I mean everyone was just sitting around this large fountain listening to this jazz band. Some people were on the grass others were dancing and stuff. And then there were the people in the cafe. I wouldn't mind being the security guard on that shift, he seemed to have a nice shift. Anywho yes that was quite fun.
Tuesday we went to Goucher College, small liberal arts college. I didn't really like it all that much. It was beautiful and I liked the admissions woman, but I didn't like that there was no football. Also, I didn't like that everyone knows everyone I don't want EVERYONE to know me, I just want a good core of people to know me. Plus, they had bad ice cream and not enough variety.
AFTER Goucher though we went over to Balitmore, because it was only 20 minutes away. That was fun! I got my dad a shirt that says "I'm Crabby!" It made me laugh. There were so many restaurants though, and I ate so much. I had really good Orange Chicken at The Cheesecake Factory. That was my first time eatting anything there other than their cheesecake, good stuff. That was very enjoyable. We discussed what I had learned in my college quest and what I liked, what I didn't like, and what schools on the west coast have what I like. Anywho, yes. That day I also got a call from my dear friend Mel. She proposed that I come boating with her on the next day, Wednesday. I told her I'd call her back later that night to tell her yes or no. It ended up being a Yes!
I have to say wednesday was so amazing! I had so much fun, it was worth waking up at 4AM catching an hour train at 5:30 and falling back asleep at Mels Grandmothers until 10:00. It was so much fun. We went boating on the Chesapeak! Yeah! True story. Mel and I had some fun swimming around/floating on a raft thing around for awhile and "stealing" Stacy's raft. I <3 biscuts. After that we got to ride a Waverunner! Definatly that was awesome. Mel and I got to drive it, we took turns and it was so much fun! I got up to 30 MPH! And then was like "Wow, okay thats fast enough." Plus, the water was very choppy, and rough. But when Mel was driving and we were going like 25 or so I FLEW off! It was awesome! I think EVERYONE should fall off the back of a Waverunner. We just kind of floated there laughing really hard. After about an hour of doing that we went in and ate sweet corn. Then it started to get really choppy there was a thunderstorm warning so we headed in at about 4:00 and I fell asleep for like 45 minutes and we got in by 5:30. As we got in it started lightning-ing and thundering, well we SAW the lightning and heard the thunder. About 20 minutes later it started just down pouring. We then went to her grandparents car shop and ordered papa johns pizza then went to pick it up and went back to her Granparents condo...which is very nice by the way. Ate that and then Mel, her mom, and I went off to the trainstation to drop me off. Definatly the train was a half hour late so we just sat there for that time. It was fun. I slept both ways on the train, there and back. But it was worth it. I'm going to miss train riding and metro riding when I go back home, but I'll be happy to drive my car.
Now for UMD. I really liked this school like its an 8 of my scale of liking things on a 1-10 scale, 10 being high 1 being low. UVA was about a 7. So I just love the architechture(sp) and the feel. I like how sports something students look forward to, and the dorms didn't suck. The campus was gorgeous too their Mall was so pretty especially with that fountain in it. I just really like it, I felt comfortable there. And I mean any school that has had their mascot stolen and taken to Florida by rival teams is worth checking out...espeically when the mascot is a TURTLE! I definatly got a shirt that says "Fear the Turtle" I'm so excited, I got one for Mel too. :D Its quite fun. I love it so.
And that's that. Well that's everything up to today. Wait no I had fake Mexican food, so my daddy is cooking me carne asada tacos tomorrow for dinner, I'm SO excited! So tomorrow night is off for doing anything due to tacos!
TODAY! I went to the Asian Art Museum and got to see a collection of Buddha statues that were found under a schools playing field in China. It was amazing. Asian are is always so facsinating. If I had felt up to it I would have taken pictures, but I was too busy admiring the metal work and the calligraphy and such to take pictures. But anywho yes. I enjoyed that Museum very much. After that I went down to The Old Post Office and looked around for touristy things, but didn't find any so I went down to Union Station with Aunt Mary Lou and finished up my shopping. All in all my trip has been excellent I do but I don't want it to end. Its been just so eye opening I suppose. Plus, it gave me some needed time off of work, I was ready to quit. That is all for today. I shall be back in California tomorrow. I think I'm going to pull an all nighter tonight. But, I'll take like a three or four hour nap right now...I just don't like being awake on airplanes, I get plane sick.
